CBR : Community Based Rehabilitation




Objective ( Four Fold Strategy )


  1. Sensitizing Primary and Secondary Stake Holders (Primary stands for PWDs* and their families. Secondary for Community and various other bodies viz Government Machinery at Block, District, State and National Level etc).


  2. Capacity Building of primary and secondary stake holders.


  3. Direct interventions with PWDs- physio/occupational therapy, corrective surgeries, providing aids and appliances, formation of self help groups and financial assistance through funds.


  4. Influencing Government Policies through Advocacy.

The above graph shows the quantum increase in the number of villages, covered under the Rural CBR program, between 2002-2008.

Another community based rehabilitation program(CBR) has started in Nindura Block of Distt. Barabanki from Sep-2009 in 50 villages.

SERVICES DECRIPTION
Medical Intervention
  • Training midwives on conducting safe deliveries.
  • Training mentally challenged and visually impaired children to perform their daily chores.
  • Providing tricycle, crutches, wheel chairs, toilet chairs, hearing aids and calipers free of cost to the needy.
Awareness Program Through wall writings, puppet shows, awareness talk and street plays.
Federation Building Sahyog Vikas Manch for the PWDs, focussing on their rights.
Economic Independence Aids and appliances provided to 48 self help groups in Deva Block, to start micro-enterprises like dairies,tailoring business, provision shops, cycle spare parts and repairing shops.


Urban CBR Program


A program for the slum areas of Khadra and Bansmandi within Lucknow District.
